And neither are you or you'd be wandering around the Gaslamp district in search of food, drink and general merriment, not reading my LJ. I can't really complain, though. I got to experience it last time and might go again next year. Of course, if I'd known last year that we'd be doing all this savethescc stuff this year, I think I would've planned my trips a bit differently!

The point of this post wasn't to whine about missing out on Sarah Connor Chronicles fandom fun at Comic Con, though. I wanted to update you guys on everything since I've been kind of slacking with savethescc posts lately. We raised all that money and I don't think I ever posted about how it all worked out. Maybe I did, but I'm too lazy to dig through my posts right now to check.

All totalled, TSCC fans raised $5012. With that money, we got the 3-day mobile billboard run, 850 16"x20" tote bags with double-sided printing, 1000 1.75" buttons and 3000 stickers (1000 of each of the three designs). It's amazing how expensive everything really was once shipping and hotel receiving fees got factored in (the Hyatt really soaks you to accept packages). It got a little tense there for a while, wondering if we'd actually be able to afford everything, but we worked it out.

If you're actually heading off to Comic Con one day this week (or maybe you're there and really really bored and found yourself reading this), the billboard should be all over the place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from about 12 noon to 8pm. Also, Aelysian and some fellow fans are there and they'll be handing out the totes, buttons and stickers to con goers. The best way to keep up with what's happening, is to follow Aelysian on twitter. And if you're planning to be there and can help out, be sure to DM her.

Oh, here's something fun: She discovered a Save Sarah sticker on what looks like the back of a Comic Con location marker sign. If so, it could be one I placed last year (I put them on the backs of several of those signs). Or maybe there are just more fans stickering this year. Either way, it's pretty cool :)

It's been a year since TSCC was dropped. I know, I can't believe it either. Seems like only yesterday I was crying my eyes out and cursing Fox. Oh, heh. It was. That's how I start every day since Sarah Connor disappeared from TV.

I've spent nearly a year now with savethescc, brainstorming, planning, organizing and campaigning for more. The chances were always slim. We all knew that going in. But It's too good of a story and the characters too well developed to simply fade away from the Terminator verse. I mean seriously, should something that started as strong as The Terminator be stuck playing out along the path of T3 and T4? HELL NO. Also, there's no Cameron or Derek on that path... and no Sarah fucking Connor!

So we're making one more move. One more plea to Warner Brothers. One more show of fan support for The Sarah Connor Chronicles. And we're doing it where industry and fandom converge: Comic Con San Diego. We're going to do a 3-day run of the billboard there, as well as hand out stickers and other TSCC promo goodies to con goers. You can read all about it at savethescc.

This means we need money, of course. I know you're all tired of reaching into your pockets, but this is the last time I'll ask for campaign donations. After this, we'll let the powers that be do their thing and we'll turn our attention to planning a TSCC con.

Just to run the billboard at Comic Con, we need $2475. Everything over and above that will go toward getting merchandise printed up for handing out. Please help with whatever amount you can. As an incentive, everyone who donates $25 or more will get a set of Cameron's 'no' 'FA' 'te' buttons (we'll be getting those made after the donation drive is done, so it'll be a few weeks before they're sent out).

Please spread the word far and wide. We need everyone's help for this final push! There is no fate but what we make.

So tired

I had big plans to do a little post about Comic Con every night, but by the time I'd get back to my hotel, I was just too freaking tired. I'm home now, but I still don't have it in me to organize my thoughts and pictures. So much to tell. So much fun. I'll post about it all later.

In related news, I think I totally overcame my fear of flying :)

We got into the Lost panel and it was very fun. Hurley, Ben, Richard Alpert and Sawyer were there (in addition to Damon and Carlton). Elizabeth Mitchell (Juliet) and Ian Somerhalder (Boone) were also here at Comic Con, but they were promoting other projects and weren't at the Lost panel. We did, however see both of them at our hotel and I actually got to meet Ian Somerhalder.

Onto the write-up about the panel (spoilers, sort of)>> )

In an unexpected turn of events, I've found myself oddly calm about the flight. I think I have my flist to thank for that. Seriously, you guys are awesome. *hugs you all*

I'm all packed and leaving for San Diego shortly. And I've got 4,000 TSCC stickers in my suitcase :)

I think I got my cell phone number to everyone I know who's going, but if I missed you, then just comment here or something. I'll be online later.

ETA: Hour and a half flight delay.

I've yet to buy Farscape on DVD because it's freaking expensive and it's confusing as hell trying to figure out which set is best to buy. Well, I'm glad I delayed because a complete Farscape DVD mega set (all 4 seasons) is coming out in November. It's being issued by A&E Home Entertainment to mark the 10th anniversary of the series and it's supposed to be loaded with features.

To top it off, there's going to be a Farscape panel at Comic Con to talk about it. Executive producer Brian Henson, creator Rockne O'Bannon, and stars Ben Browder and Claudia Black will be there.

Can I get a hell yeah?

Q: How do you know if you're a crazed TSCC fan?

Work has picked up considerably in recent weeks, so between that and dedicating most of my free time to Sarah Connor, LJ has sadly taken a back seat. I'm going to remedy that. I know I'm way behind on what you guys are all up to, but I'm going to catch up this weekend. In the meantime, here's what I've been up to:

I recently reorganized The Sarah Connor Society forums (also made a new skin/theme for it) and set-up a TSCC series rewatch. For that, you watch the pilot on your own then hit the new rewatch board for discussion next Wednesday (it continues with an ep a week).

A lot of my nights have been spent in the savethescc.com chatroom, brainstorming TSCC campaign ideas and socializing. We've had a petition going that's already had over 2500 signers, we've been doing emails, letters and postcards to WB, Halcyon and various networks. We've got sort of a press pack in the works to send out to those same places. Our biggest venture is a mobile billboard in Los Angeles and fundraising for that is going to kick off next week. We're going to need about $4,000, so don't be surprised when I start guilting you all into pitching in a couple dollars ;)

Comic Con is coming up, so I made some stickers for people to wear on themselves and hand out. But then we all decided there was no need to limit sticker fun to just a con. There's been a lot of excitement and chatter about the stickers for weeks now but they finally arrived from the printer today so ordering has begun. They look awesome, by the way, they really do. I fronted the money for this so I'm handling the distribution. I bought 10,000 stickers, so they're incredibly cheap (I'm selling them at cost). You can buy as few as 10 or as many as 800 in one shot. So go get some! You can read more about it and/or place an order at savethescc.com.

Here's a shot of some of my recent handiwork — a couple postcards and the two stickers:

The discounted hotel rates went into effect today for Comic Con and we managed to claw our way through the online frenzy to get one. Now instead of staying at the Comfort Inn Gaslamp 6 or 7 blocks away, we're booked at the Hilton Bayfront which is right next door to the Convention Center. And the real beauty of it is that the discounted price was $70/night CHEAPER than the Comfort Inn we were going to be staying at. Also, it looks like a pretty sweet hotel.

The man gets all the credit. I forgot all about Comic Con hotels being available today, but he remembered and came home on his lunch hour so we could try to get one. Success :)

Q: Who's going to Comic-Con?

The 4-day passes are just about sold out, so I stopped my can I handle a 6-hour flight? wavering and took the plunge. The man and I bought our tickets tonight and booked a hotel (within walking distance of the convention center - yay). Now I just need to convince myself that flying is a fun thing, not a scary thing.

So who else is going?
