Hey, have you done a video for the TSCC fan TV commercial yet? The deadline was bumped to Sunday 1/17, so there's still time. Good thing, since I haven't done mine yet either ;)

Anyway, quit being lazy. Get to it. We want more submissions!

Are you guys familiar with The 3 Dots podcasts? They do commentary and news and also discussion podcasts. There was a very cool commentary recently with Ash Miller, about TITD2. I highly recommend it. There's also a new discussion podcast about Some Must Watch, While Some Must Sleep that I joined in on, along with [livejournal.com profile] schmacky0, [livejournal.com profile] gothamite66, [livejournal.com profile] valhallalilly and Willwood. It's about 50 minutes long and I think it's kind of fun (especially when we get into talking about the emergency c-section). But I'll warn you that I talk a lot.

There will be more of these discussion podcasts so if anyone wants to join in, just email schmacky@savethescc.com. All you need to be able to participate is Skype.

After a bit of a hiatus, we're kicking back into action at savethescc. The Terminator rights get auctioned off in February and once there's a new owner, we've got a shot at TSCC again. In the meantime, we need to rally the fans — energize the resistance. So we're making a TV commercial to raise awareness of the fight. It'll be done through Google TV ads, which means we'll be bidding for the air time. This isn't something you'll see on prime time network TV, but we will have the ability to target our audience. It'll be cool. And fun. And maybe you'll be in it... Step one is for all of you to make a video.

And I love all the friends I've made because of it.

No reason.

My video is finished. Finally. What did that take me, like two weeks? Well, I hadn't done any video editing before, so I was learning as I went along. That tends to slow things down. Also, I'm a bit obsessive when it comes to creative projects (in fact it's killing me that after I uploaded this, I noticed one transition spot didn't turn out quite like I thought it had!!!!!! Heh. Oh well).

Special thanks to [livejournal.com profile] schmacky0 for pointing out my sloppy transition work early on and to [livejournal.com profile] sabaceanbabe for doing the full beta, which prompted experiments in graduated slow motion. And I've also learned plenty just from viewing their own vids.

The video is about Sarah (see, you might not know this about me, but I'm kind of a Sarah Connor fan) and the impact of losing her connection to John. It's set to Avril Lavigne's "Nobody's Home". This is my first fan video, but I don't think it'll be my last. I really enjoyed making it.

Watch it on Youtube.
Watch it on Vimeo.
Download it (46mb, 640x360 Quicktime movie).

On a personal level, this video represented everything I have been unable to do since I quit smoking. I haven't been able to stay focused on anything and I've had no creative ability. But Sarah Connor came through for me, as always. Somehow I latched onto this idea and was able to stick with it to completion. It's just a simple fanvid, I know. But for me it was a milestone and I feel like I'm back :)

Okay kiddies, the time has come to vote on the billboard. It's basically a snazzed up version of what I showed you before and since everyone seemed to love it, the only thing we're polling on is the wording at the top and bottom. So take a look at Design #1 and Design #2 and cast your vote:

Since you probably won't keep track of this journal entry, you can keep track of this poll at savethescc.com
roxybisquaint: (sarah happy)
We're about 4 hours shy of one week since the mobile billboard donations kicked off and we've hit the goal. It's funded. How fucking awesome is that?

TSCC fans rock!

Next step will be for me to finish up some design options, then we'll hold a poll at SaveTheScc for fans to decide. And when that's done we'll place the order (probably late this week or early next week) so we can lock in our dates. This is going to be so cool.

Emails, letters, postcards... Have we made an impact? Are we getting through to Warner Brothers? Are they hearing the united voice of the fans crying out for more Sarah Connor Chronicles? Maybe, but we think it's time to up our game. We think its time to show Warner Brothers that we mean business:

We don't have a finished design yet, but we'll be working off this basic concept.

I know what you're thinking. I may not know how you think, but I know what you're thinking about right now. A mobile billboard?! That's got to be expensive! Indeed it is, but not very expensive at all if everyone chips in. All we need is $3500 and surely there are enough true TSCC fans to make it happen. You think I'm kidding? Nope. You think I'm crazy? Could be. But what better way to tell Warner Brothers we want more TSCC than to send a mobile billboard to their headquarters?

Will you join us? Details and a PayPal Donation widget can be found at SaveTheSCC.com. You can also contribute to this fund from right here, right now. And by the way, that widget will be available in my profile until we reach our goal.

Q: How do you know if you're a crazed TSCC fan?

Work has picked up considerably in recent weeks, so between that and dedicating most of my free time to Sarah Connor, LJ has sadly taken a back seat. I'm going to remedy that. I know I'm way behind on what you guys are all up to, but I'm going to catch up this weekend. In the meantime, here's what I've been up to:

I recently reorganized The Sarah Connor Society forums (also made a new skin/theme for it) and set-up a TSCC series rewatch. For that, you watch the pilot on your own then hit the new rewatch board for discussion next Wednesday (it continues with an ep a week).

A lot of my nights have been spent in the savethescc.com chatroom, brainstorming TSCC campaign ideas and socializing. We've had a petition going that's already had over 2500 signers, we've been doing emails, letters and postcards to WB, Halcyon and various networks. We've got sort of a press pack in the works to send out to those same places. Our biggest venture is a mobile billboard in Los Angeles and fundraising for that is going to kick off next week. We're going to need about $4,000, so don't be surprised when I start guilting you all into pitching in a couple dollars ;)

Comic Con is coming up, so I made some stickers for people to wear on themselves and hand out. But then we all decided there was no need to limit sticker fun to just a con. There's been a lot of excitement and chatter about the stickers for weeks now but they finally arrived from the printer today so ordering has begun. They look awesome, by the way, they really do. I fronted the money for this so I'm handling the distribution. I bought 10,000 stickers, so they're incredibly cheap (I'm selling them at cost). You can buy as few as 10 or as many as 800 in one shot. So go get some! You can read more about it and/or place an order at savethescc.com.

Here's a shot of some of my recent handiwork — a couple postcards and the two stickers:

Monday was such a tough day, wasn't it? I never would've thought the cancellation of a TV show could affect me like that. I'm just so glad to have all of you. You helped me through it.

*hugs you all*

So what now? I know Josh Friedman said to move on. I know he said it was going to be Fox renewal or nothing and that leaves us in the "nothing" category. But writer Zack Stenz also threw this at us:

"Warner Brothers still owns the rights to the show and the characters, and the actors, especially Thomas, Brian, and Summer, are passionately in love with their characters and eager to revisit them. So there's every possibility that given the right combination of circumstances, something could happen in the future. A slender reed? Sure. But don't give up hope completely."

I don't know how these things work. I don't know if WB can call the producers back or call the actors back. I don't know if they even would. But I do believe most of the people involved in TSCC weren't just doing a job, they were also fans of the show themselves. I'm not sure what to make of the fact that Lena wasn't mentioned in that quote. Without Sarah, I'm not interested in the show going on. But I'm thinking if everyone else was on board, she would be too. So, we fight on...

You changed the future before, you just didn't change it enough. So you can do it again.

There are a couple avenues. I've heard talk of trying to get WB to produce some DVDs. I've heard talk of trying to get CW to pick up the show. And I've heard talk of Sci-Fi (Syfy). I personally think Syfy is the best fit and our best bet. It's a long shot to be sure, but I think it's a legitimate long shot and so, one worth pursuing. What the hell have we got to lose anyway? The show is already cancelled. If we fail, it's not like it's going to be more cancelled.

A couple things to keeping mind. A pick-up by Syfy would likely mean a smaller budget and shorter seasons. I don't know about you guys, but I'm totally fine with that. I think the cast was too big in season 2 anyway. As long as we've at least got our 4 main characters: Sarah, John, Cameron, Derek, I'm good. Maybe the production values wouldn't be quite as awesome. I'm fine with that too. I watch TSCC because I love the characters and I love the drama. Action and explosions are the icing on the cake and I can certainly live with less if that's what it takes.

Campaigns are being organized, so keep an eye on savethescc.com and The Sarah Connor Society for more info in the coming week. In the meantime, you can contact the SciFi network here:

feedback@scifi.com

Let them know that we are a ready-made and LOYAL audience that will support their network and buy from their sponsors. This is a business and we need them to know we'll make it profitable for them.

roxybisquaint: (save tscc)
Hell of a roller coaster ride, isn't it? Right now I feel like I'm stuck upside down on a loop, waiting for the rescue crew to arrive and get me off this thing. Never have I gone through so many ups and downs in a single evening about a freaking TV show. My God, the drama. The tension. It's unbelievable.

As of the middle of the night, here's where we stood: There was no official word from Fox and the producers of The Sarah Connor Chronicles had received no information.

The Hollywood Reporter's updated copy of Fox's (tentative? leaked?) fall schedule showed the TSCC slot still open. I think Fox is playing chicken with WB for a bigger discount on the show and negotiations are running into the last possible minute. I think that's why the first version of the Fox schedule had no TSCC and the second version had the open slot. That means we're probably still in contention for Fridays at 8pm. And Dollhouse did much better with the Sarah Connor lead-in.

A rare bright spot in all this: Skynext Podcast guys said they got an unconfirmed report from their Fox "insider" that Sarah Connor is getting renewed for 13 eps. I don't honestly give that much weight, but at least it's something.

Ausiello, who seems to have started the cancellation frenzy has been wrong every time about TSCC. What that tells me is his unnamed source is tossing a coin and has as much chance at being right as me. And I say it's getting renewed. We'll see who has more cred when Fox announces.

I hope when I hop online later there's good news awaiting. But I love you all regardless and I wouldn't trade the friendships I've made because of Sarah Connor for anything. Actually, that's a total lie. I'd sell you all out in a second for another season :P

No fate.
roxybisquaint: (christopher walken)
I've been optimistic for many weeks that The Sarah Connor Chronicles is going to get renewed, but as we close in on the 18th, I'm so fucking nervous I don't know what to do with myself. I've never been this emotionally invested in a TV show before. I blame Sarah.

Please don't leave me.

You guys remember that save the show video project schmacky was putting together? Well, it's finished...

roxybisquaint: (team connor)
You guys all know Schmacky, right? She makes TSCC fan videos like this one and fights the good fight at the wiki. Well, she wants to put together a video of the fans as sort of a "save our show" kind of thing. Honestly, I don't expect anything but the financial viability of the TSCC to determine whether we get a 3rd season, but I think this is a fun idea and it certainly can't hurt.

I'm going to make a video and you should too. Everything you need to know >> )
roxybisquaint: (team connor)
Josh Friedman put up a nice long post at the official TSCC producer's blog to address fan concerns. Specifically, he talks about ratings, marketing, creative direction and he throws in some spoilery tidbits (general spoilery, not specific spoilery, but if you're worried about it, just don't read the obvious list at the end of his post). Most of the replies have been positive, but there are a number of comments that go beyond negative, they're downright mean, rude and hateful. So please, do me a favor and help water them down at the official blog. You don't even need to register — just stick in a name, an email address and your comment (it might await moderation if you've never posted there before, but it'll post soon enough).

The show is struggling in the ratings and we may not get a third season. That would suck. I'll be very sad. But even worse than that would be for Josh Friedman or any of the creative team to feel like they failed their fans. I love The Sarah Connor Chronicles and so do you. So go spread some of that love.
roxybisquaint: (aeryn dark)
I finished up the last 5 hours of Farscape tonight — the final episode of season 4 and then PeaceKeeper Wars. And now I'm just sad. So sad. Really, really sad. I already miss them: Aeryn, John, Rygel, Chiana, D'Argo, Scorpy. I feel kind of lost without them. I know there are webisodes on the way, but until then... I don't know. Just sad. Maybe I'll start the series all over again tomorrow. And maybe I should make my fandom official and go to this.
