It's (going to be) freaking BIG

Emails, letters, postcards... Have we made an impact? Are we getting through to Warner Brothers? Are they hearing the united voice of the fans crying out for more Sarah Connor Chronicles? Maybe, but we think it's time to up our game. We think its time to show Warner Brothers that we mean business:
I know what you're thinking. I may not know how you think, but I know what you're thinking about right now. A mobile billboard?! That's got to be expensive! Indeed it is, but not very expensive at all if everyone chips in. All we need is $3500 and surely there are enough true TSCC fans to make it happen. You think I'm kidding? Nope. You think I'm crazy? Could be. But what better way to tell Warner Brothers we want more TSCC than to send a mobile billboard to their headquarters?
Will you join us? Details and a PayPal Donation widget can be found at SaveTheSCC.com. You can also contribute to this fund from right here, right now. And by the way, that widget will be available in my profile until we reach our goal.

on 2009-06-29 09:41 am (UTC)This fandom is going to be the death of me, especially come September, but damn if I'm not happy that we didn't give up. Not giving up.

on 2009-06-30 09:09 am (UTC)I love that icon and that is exactly what I thought when I first saw it. Oh, Sarah. Jesus loves you too. The lighting in that scene is so awesome.
Hi, 5AM. Hi, rising sun. Sigh. Time to power down.

on 2009-06-29 10:05 pm (UTC)At this point I'm happy with a 4 episode miniseries or DVD movie. If they were to do that, and rely entirely on DVD sales, they'd only get a few dollars in actual profit per DVD, which means literally 12 million people need to buy one for it to turn a profit. If people donated $20 each, the number of drops down to 600,000 people. Which is still unfeasible, BUT I don't think it's necessary for us to pay for the entire budget, merely for enough of a chunk of it to demonstrate seriousness. If someone had attempted this right after the season finale when the most people were excited, I think a reachable target number of fans would have been about 20,000 people. Assume a medium donation of $20 (I spent $80 on the DVD pre-order and iTunes Season, I suspect $20 is reasonable), then we could have gotten a total of $400,000. And seriously, which do you think is more likely to impress WB - A truck driving around or a check for 400,000 dollars? The check represents not only 20,000 devoted fans but loads more people who are likely to be willing to buy the DVD or watch it on Hulu.
Unfortunately I honestly think it's too late even for that. A lot of fans (like me) have already felt like we've put in a crazy amount of effort that amounted to nothing. But if I were to continue the fight, in would only be in a battle I honestly thought had a shot of accomplishing something.

on 2009-06-30 09:41 am (UTC)The intention is to time the billboard with the release of the s2 DVD, when we figure we have the best chance of making both a financial impact and a FANS WANT MORE AND WE'RE NOT GOING AWAY impact. I hope it works. I think it will.

on 2009-07-01 04:13 am (UTC)plus from what I hear Fox's fall line up is going to get pwnd.
not alot of public support behind it.

on 2009-07-01 04:47 am (UTC)Yeah, Fox's fall line-up isn't looking good at all and from what I know, they're not even happy with it. I don't wish any ill will on Dollhouse fans, but I want so badly for Fox's Friday night line-up to CRASH and BURN.

on 2009-07-01 05:19 pm (UTC)Hey since you're in LA, I guess you could go see the billboard in action. Schmacky and gothamite both live in LA and plan to get video and pictures of it driving around. I think this is going to be awesome.

-500 to go!
??
on 2009-07-06 05:04 pm (UTC)-an endo skull
-an endo fist or a human fist with a barcode at the wrist
-group of (3) crouched resistance fighters at one corner and a flying (HK) aircraft at the opposite, upper corner
-side profiles on opposing ends of the billboard of a woman (Sarah) facing down an endo/human face (any gender) with red eyes (both faces would be featureless sihollettes cept the T eyes)
Re: ??
on 2009-07-06 05:42 pm (UTC)I've contemplated using silhouettes of people, but I really don't think it would come across well. Without the faces, it might as well be Charlie's Angels ;)
Re: ??
on 2009-07-06 05:57 pm (UTC)I don't mean to be rude, it just seems like it is missing something graphically (my wannabe artsy-fartsy self is compelled to offer some ideas). Though, I know that is not the final billboard design.
I think leaving off the word 'Terminator' will deter anyone from thinking 'Terminator Salvation' but a graphic could draw more eyes to read the words on the billboard
