I don't think I can bring myself to care about Dollhouse. Even though I heard it got better, I never heard it was great. My husband said it definitely improved but he felt the story had nowhere to go after the finale. He's not exactly mr imagination, but if he wasn't wowed by the show, I can't see me liking it. And if I'm being honest, I think I'd be too bitter to sit and watch anything on Fox on Friday nights now anyway.
Fair enough. I would note though, that I wasn't particularly wowed by Terminator until the second season. I feel like Dollhouse's ending is similar in that they've just hit their stride, and while I don't know exactly where they're planning to go next I think the "real" story is about to begin. (I would strongly disagree with your husband regarding the story having nowhere to go. There was a major plot thread that was introduced but never really explored.
I realize we disagree on Terminator Season 1, but the general principle might apply anyway.
Again, episode 6 is a good introduction to the actual plot and also gives you a good feel for what the rest of the show will be like. After you've had a month or so to mourn and get past the bitterness, I'd give it a go. What else are you going to do for the summer? :)
