I know what you're thinking because I'm thinking it too.

Roxy, you don't need another gun!

Well that's what I was thinking... until I held the Springfield XD 9 in my hand. Now I think I do need it. I'd never even given the Springfield a look because I was sure that extra palm grip safety would be a nuissance. Not so. You don't even know you're pressing it, and the trigger is a breeze to squeeze. It's just awesome.

Why do these things have to be so damn expensive? $650 for this baby. I can probably find it closer to $550 if I shop around, though. And hey, what do you know!, there just happens to be a gun show not too far from here this weekend :)

I'm hardly a sharpshooter, but here's a couple targets from tonight. I was doing some rapid firing along with some careful aims, so overall I was pretty pleased with my hits. I'm a competent and consistent shot. Almost everything was center chest, with only a few wild shots. Some tight groupings in there too — I love when I blow out a big hole from multiple shots in the same spot. In case you're wondering, I don't even bother with headshots very often because I suck at them. I don't know what it is, but that upward angle is just something I can't seem to get right. I end up knicking the ear or shooting the neck instead. One of these days I'll figure that out.

These were at about 25-30 ft with my sub-compact 9mm Glock (G26). I can actually shoot better with the Glock 17 because of the longer barrel (more accurate), but I like the size and weight of baby Glock much better. I am, however, contemplating the "compact" Glock 19. It's basically in between the other two. Yeah I know it's excessive. I don't need another gun! But I *want* it.

Theory time!
No spoilers, just speculation.

I'm predicting that it was Jesse that shot bloody future soldier as he was getting ready to time jump. I figure his coming through wounded indicates that either the resistance's time machine facility was being overrun by metal or one faction of the resistance was fighting another at the moment he went through. I'm opting for the latter. While it could be "the greys" fighting, I tend to think they're more subversive info carriers, not a fighting force. So I think it's Jesse's group that was shooting.

I've been trying to figure out what Riley's deal is. We know she's working with Jesse and it seems her job is to get close to John and get him to reveal something. But what exactly she's trying to get John to reveal is unclear. So I'm thinking that Jesse wants to know if the bloody future fighter made it through time alive and successfully delivered his message (the blood wall info) to the Connors. And perhaps the most significant piece of info that Jesse's worried about is the 3 dots.

misc thoughts:

I also have a really bad feeling about John telling Riley about Charley. I don't think mentioning the info about Sarah is a problem, but he sure is quick to whip out the "my mother was in a mental hospital and I had to live with foster parents," isn't he? I think he told Derek that the first day he was up and around after his gunshot wound. And now he tells Riley right after seeing what a manipulative chick she is. Dude, I know you're desperate for some sympathy, but get a clue!

A cool little tidbit I caught about Riley. In Self Made Man, she tells John that her real parents died in a fire. Well, if she's 16 and she came from 2027, that makes her born in 2011. If her parents really did die in a fire, I'm going to take a wild guess and say that fire was judgement day. Someone obviously found baby Riley and raised her (maybe even those hippie "foster parents" who called her "the deviant", though she probably made that up).

On a mostly unrelated note: I really want a tommy gun :D

I was surfing the web, looking for a picture of a specific kind of lamp to insert into the Comical (which will be posted later today, BTW) and one lamp that came up didn't match my search parameters at all. I was intrigued, though. You might be too. It's The Alien Abduction Lamp and I knew the minute I saw it I had to have one. Apparently it's not yet on the market, but it is in production (with both human and bovine abductees!).

ETA: It's now available for sale!

In reading the blog of the guy who designed the lamp, I also came across a rather hilarious youtube video, which Rickrolls you, Muppets style. Don't be afraid — it's funny (watch at least the first 25-30 seconds).

Upon visiting a clock shop yesterday, I found myself inexplicably drawn to a grandfather clock. I don't even like grandfather clocks, but something about this one speaks to me. And I'm pretty sure it's saying "you need me in that corner in your dining room — the corner where those ugly shelves are that you want to get rid of." Yeah, that's what it's saying all right. Now I just have to figure out how to justify spending a big wad of cash on something I absolutely don't need.
