Jesse and Riley what *are* you up to?

Theory time!
No spoilers, just speculation.

I'm predicting that it was Jesse that shot bloody future soldier as he was getting ready to time jump. I figure his coming through wounded indicates that either the resistance's time machine facility was being overrun by metal or one faction of the resistance was fighting another at the moment he went through. I'm opting for the latter. While it could be "the greys" fighting, I tend to think they're more subversive info carriers, not a fighting force. So I think it's Jesse's group that was shooting.

I've been trying to figure out what Riley's deal is. We know she's working with Jesse and it seems her job is to get close to John and get him to reveal something. But what exactly she's trying to get John to reveal is unclear. So I'm thinking that Jesse wants to know if the bloody future fighter made it through time alive and successfully delivered his message (the blood wall info) to the Connors. And perhaps the most significant piece of info that Jesse's worried about is the 3 dots.

I also have a really bad feeling about John telling Riley about Charley. I don't think mentioning the info about Sarah is a problem, but he sure is quick to whip out the "my mother was in a mental hospital and I had to live with foster parents," isn't he? I think he told Derek that the first day he was up and around after his gunshot wound. And now he tells Riley right after seeing what a manipulative chick she is. Dude, I know you're desperate for some sympathy, but get a clue!

A cool little tidbit I caught about Riley. In Self Made Man, she tells John that her real parents died in a fire. Well, if she's 16 and she came from 2027, that makes her born in 2011. If her parents really did die in a fire, I'm going to take a wild guess and say that fire was judgement day. Someone obviously found baby Riley and raised her (maybe even those hippie "foster parents" who called her "the deviant", though she probably made that up).

On a mostly unrelated note: I really want a tommy gun :D

So Jesse could have been there since Riley was there? My theory is Kyle slept with another woman. Riley is John's sister. Jesse is the mom. She is trying to collect John's DNA to see if its all true.

Here is one. Jesse switched Sarahs baby at birth with her own. John is Jesse's son from Derek. Riley is Kyles and Sarahs, the true resistence leader.

I like how you think. That could easily be very close to what's actually going on. I figure we're going to get a large dose of answers in Episode 13, with the rest coming after the inevitable cliffhanger that they use.

I just think there has to be more to Riley's mission than coming between John and Cameron because really, John's not exactly close to Cameron these days anyway. And anyway, that seems entirely too soap opera-ish. Then again, maybe that's why they cast Leven Rambin ;)

What I'm wondering is if John actually did tell her more when they were all *BOY BECOMES A MAN* in the truck. That conversation almost made me think she was trying to pry "I killed Sarakissian" out of him. But I can't think of any reason why that info would be of any importance.

I was thinking about that. Wasn't that the same day that John saw Riley at school though? So if Jess (and Riley) came through that day, Riley definitely got on John's trail quick. Not that it's out of the question, but to me Riley feels like she's been in the SCC current timeline long enough to acclimate fairly well. Hmm. More thoughts later.

Oh, you're right. I didn't even take that into account. Well let's see. Suppose Riley ditched future war - went AWOL a while before and Jesse knew about it. Then Jesse shoots future fighter and comes through right after him. Once she gets here, she tracks down young Riley and forces her to help. Of course all this blows my timeline theories, but I kind of think the show isn't too worried about paradoxes or timelines anyway ;)

OMG, too true. Details, what details? We don't need to check the stinkin' details ... sayeth the SCC writers/producers.

But I love the theory of Jesse shooting the bloody wall resistance guy. That's a great theory.

Hm. Jesse shooting Scut Farkus as he goes through the TDS, implying Resistance Fighters VS Resistance Fighters, is an interesting theory.

Which points out that Scut didn't know about Jesse and Riley going back, I don't believe. They must have gone back after he did to figure out what information he warned the Connors of. John and Derek would have recognized their names on the wall if it had been written there in warning with all the rest.

I feel certain there's resistance vs resistance going on. Between finding out about "the greys" and knowing Jesse is displeased with future!John (and I"m sure she's not alone in that), there's got to be some infighting going on.

Thanks for pointing me to that. I've been convinced of the same thing since this last episode and I've been trying to formulate a theory. I'll go post!
