roxybisquaint: (sarah loneliness)
[personal profile] roxybisquaint
My video is finished. Finally. What did that take me, like two weeks? Well, I hadn't done any video editing before, so I was learning as I went along. That tends to slow things down. Also, I'm a bit obsessive when it comes to creative projects (in fact it's killing me that after I uploaded this, I noticed one transition spot didn't turn out quite like I thought it had!!!!!! Heh. Oh well).

Special thanks to [livejournal.com profile] schmacky0 for pointing out my sloppy transition work early on and to [livejournal.com profile] sabaceanbabe for doing the full beta, which prompted experiments in graduated slow motion. And I've also learned plenty just from viewing their own vids.

The video is about Sarah (see, you might not know this about me, but I'm kind of a Sarah Connor fan) and the impact of losing her connection to John. It's set to Avril Lavigne's "Nobody's Home". This is my first fan video, but I don't think it'll be my last. I really enjoyed making it.

Watch it on Youtube.
Watch it on Vimeo.
Download it (46mb, 640x360 Quicktime movie).

On a personal level, this video represented everything I have been unable to do since I quit smoking. I haven't been able to stay focused on anything and I've had no creative ability. But Sarah Connor came through for me, as always. Somehow I latched onto this idea and was able to stick with it to completion. It's just a simple fanvid, I know. But for me it was a milestone and I feel like I'm back :)

yep still love it!
I really also like the part "She's falling behind" The music and the scene work so perfectly and you so empathize with Sarah. The whole song fits perfectly ans makes you feel the character :)
Sarah is so amazing.

Glad to have you back. :-)

Not a fan of Avril Lavigne, but this vid was very nicely done. Timing John slamming his hands on the table in frustration to the cymbal crash was a nice touch.

(You never use the same screen name twice, do you?)

Great vid Roxy! It really highlighted the loneliness that plagues Sarah Connor. Also reminds me of one of my favorite lines from BTR - 'I believe you have participated in the miraculous and the terrible and through it all you have maintained a moral and good soul.'

And as for having your choice of Lena expressions to choose from - you captured all the right ones to go perfectly with the music. Sigh...I <3 Lena...I miss SCC!

Very nice!

You inspire me to get into fan vidding, which I am clueless to begin. Online tuts seem to vary from one another and there are so many programs to choose from as a result.

Also, big kudos to quitting smoking. I wonder if Sarah went through the same. She smokes in T2, but I do not recall a scene of her smoking or a hint of it (broadcast TV doesn't do smoking in shows, right?) --Actually, I'm reading a T2-era book and it is touching on Sarah's struggle to quit smoking and drinking at her son's insistence.

You Rock Rox!

I love what you've done with this song and the memorable faces from our shared 'verse.

The kiddling is troubled by the fact that I actually *like* Avril Lavigne (especially "Wake Me Up"), but let her be puzzled.

I'm glad you've broken out of the recovery funk. It's great to have you back in form.
+++++++++++++++++++

Thinkin about Sarah smoking after her escape from Pescadero, it seems a little odd, doesn't it, that she would be addicted? Do they really let people who are involuntarily committed for paranoia and violent psychoses play with matches in a mental hospital?
That seems... insane. :P

User [livejournal.com profile] sabaceanbabe referenced to your post from Nobody's Home (Terminator: the Sarah Connor Chronicles) by Roxy Bisquaint (http://community.livejournal.com/bsgvidrecs/32475.html) saying: [...] Vid Name/Vidder: Song/Artist: Nobody’s Home by Avril Lavigne Genre: Sarah-centric gen vid, kind of a character study and quite angstalicious Why you’re reccing the vid:Since today is Friday and it’s a fandom free-for-all day here at BSG ... Finally watching this at [livejournal.com profile] sabaceanbabe's rec! You used some of these clips and facial expressions very well, particularly that overlay of Sarah watching John sleep with John's empty room, and her devastation at realizing John is gone around 1:26 or so was really affecting. And kudos on selling me a bit on Avril Lavigne + Sarah, cause I wasn't sure it could be done. :)
