I think it would have been a combination of both.

What sucks the most about loosing SCC is that I have no idea how Josh F. and co would have moved the story forward with everyone in different timelines/alternate realities of the future, etc.

Yeah, it was a cruel place to leave us. I have mixed feelings about where it was going, though. I really want to know, but I'm also afraid!
