TSCC ficlet: 2 Minutes Late
Just a quick fic done for
otw_onlinecon's Hodgepodge Challenge.
The prompt was: Sarah and/or Cameron catching a train.
Sarah might have found some humor in her stolen Jeep getting stolen from her if it hadn't started pouring.
She and Cameron had to walk several blocks through the rain to find the Metro station and now she was standing, uncomfortably drenched, on the platform waiting for a train. Her clothing clung awkwardly to her body and strips of hair matted to the sides of her face. Cameron was wet too, but it didn't seem to bother her at all and that bothered Sarah even more.
She wrung the excess water from her hair as she watched a droplet of rain slide unacknowledged down Cameron's nose, landing on the schedule in her hands.
"The train should have arrived 1 minute ago."
Sarah tried to dry her wet hands on her wet jeans. "Sometimes they run late."
"The schedule says it will arrive at 10:05 and it is now 10:06... 10:07."
"I know what the schedule says," she grumbled, "but sometimes they run late."
"But why have a schedule if they aren't going to follow it?"
Sarah was in no mood to explain the concept of trains running late to a sopping wet cyborg. She ripped the schedule from her hands, crumpled it tightly and tossed it in the trash can behind her. "It's not for you to understand."
The train wooshed in and Cameron's head tilted with a puzzled look. "Why is it called 'the red line'? It's not red."

Cameron is so awesomely literal. :P And she makes Sarah so grumpy. Hee! I love this.

"Having Cameron around was sometimes like having an 3-year-old around—a 3-year-old that could throw a person, smash in a door and kill without conscience."
:P
