We do need the masses, we do need the ratings. But I hate the idea that the show needs to be something other than it is to try to lure viewers. I want so badly for this show to succeed on its own terms because its so good.

I only wish we could time jump back and start this series on Fridays at 9pm, marketed as an adult sci-fi drama. I think we'd have a larger female audience and the numbers would be on solid ground. Ack. I could drive myself crazy over that stuff. Anyway...

The whole John/Cameron thing is idiotic to me in simple boyfriend/girlfriend terms, which is generally all anyone seems to talk about. But on a deeper level there's definitely something to it. It's been set up since the beginning of the series and has been unfolding ever since. I would be shocked (and squicked) if John and Cameron ever became lovers or we ever found out that they were lovers in the future. I really don't see that happening.

What I think is going on between them is John being confused about his feelings towards Cameron and she being utterly devoted to him. It's a relationship to be sure, but it's complex, it spans present and future, and we've got a long way to go on that story.
