Good point about the Kaliba guys not being familiar with machines. But the fact that the the AI knew Cameron was a machine meant that they'd learned a few things about the Connor crew while tracking them. So by the time they moved on them, they must have known the Connors were more than just people working for a rival company or spies or whatever. So far in this series, machines only come from the future.
