I suggest you read up on sociopaths and psychopaths who are, in many ways, a class of humans with faulty or even absent emotions. Thoughts and emotions vs qualia? This is deep stuff that, given it's just hand-waving and furiously erasing from the whiteboard as fast as you write even on the part of the "authorities" in the field, can be played anyway you like. In actual fact, we don't know what we don't know and what we're mostly finding out now is that we have more questions to ask.

Suffice it to say my considered opinion before I ever watched TSCC was that robots would and only could be psychopaths so you're on a hiding-to-nothing loving one. IMHO, if you read the extant relevant literature it's the inevitable conclusion but I've been studying this on-and-off for over thirty years, including at University, and I can assure you there are no definitive answers to these questions. So, I suppose it's one of those cases that you can legitimately believe what you want to believe absent contradiction from objective reality.
